Pre-Marathon Interview
1. Will I be needing any specific equipment?
Yes. You will need a good pair of running shoes, tape, proper attire for the weather, and possibly a water belt.
2. What should I wear during the Marathon?
It will probably be cold due to the date of the event. So, you will need to dress in layers along with gloves and a toboggan. Make sure your outer layers are disposable as it can get hot as you progress through your run.
3. What if I need to use the restroom during the marathon?
There will be rest areas every couple miles. Specific locations will be labeled on the map of the course.
4. What is the best way to stay hydrated during the marathon?
Again, these stops will be labeled on the course map as hydration stops which will provide water or Gatorade. Some stations will also provide cliff energy gel shots which can be helpful.
5. What if I get a cramp during the marathon?
We will tape you up before the race to help avoid cramping during the race. If you do get a cramp while running, it is best to slow down your pace or even stop if necessary.
6. What is the best pace for me to keep throughout my run?
Based on your initial run, lets target around a 5-6 mph pace to start. We can reassess as you progress further in your training.
7. How often should I train beforehand?
I will provide you a target training schedule for you to follow (see Mentor Tab).
